Claremont Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, in Cheshire, is a well-established club offering facilities for seasoned players and beginners. The club has four all-weather artificial grass courts, three of which were originally equipped with metal halide floodlights.
The existing lighting system, while functional, was becoming increasingly inefficient. The club’s management committee sought a solution to modernise its infrastructure and reduce long-term energy costs, while also aligning with the Lawn Tennis Association’s (LTA) recommended Lux lighting standards.
To support the upgrade, JHP Electrical — members of SAPCA were appointed to replace outdated metal halide lighting with a new LED system, achieving LTA-recommended lighting levels for competitive and recreational play.
Scope of works included:
The lighting upgrade was tailored to suit the club’s existing infrastructure, with lighting posts positioned at the back corners of each court—four at each end—across 6-8 metre columns.
JHP Electrical adopted a methodical and safety-conscious approach, focusing on both performance and sustainability. Key strategies included:
The Claremont Tennis Club Management Committee expressed high levels of satisfaction with both the process and results of the floodlighting upgrade. The project was delivered professionally, safely, and on schedule. The club now benefits from improved lighting quality, lower energy costs, and a more sustainable facility for members.
The successful lighting upgrade at Claremont Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club demonstrates the value of modern, efficient floodlighting in enhancing player experience and operational sustainability.
