As energy bills continue to rise, it’s becoming more important for businesses to do everything they can to reduce the costs of their energy bills. For sports clubs, office blocks and other commercial properties – switching to LED lighting is a great way to do this.
We recently carried out a return on investment (ROI) calculation for the golf range. This calculation showed the club how much money they could save by upgrading their lighting systems to LEDs. The results of the survey will shock you!
We identified that the golf club’s lighting system mostly consisted of fluorescent bulbs. With fluorescent bulbs being much less energy efficient than newer LED lighting – replacing the existing fittings with a new LED system would help the golf club save money long term.
After this, we were able to identify the energy cost per year for each lighting source. If the golf club continued using the fluorescent systems – it would cost them £32,251.56 to run. However, by switching to LEDs, we found that the running costs would drop drastically to only £5,333.85!
That’s a saving of over £26,000 a year!
We were then able to work out the total cost of the electricity across 3 years. Keeping the fluorescent lights would equate to a cost of £96,755, whilst the LED lighting would cost £16,002. Showing how much money LED lights can save you.
As well as saving money, the LED lights will also provide the golf club with over 26 years more years of usage compared to the fluorescent lights!
Furthermore, as carbon emissions continue to be a global issue, the switch to LED lights would help the golf club reduce their carbon footprint. Our survey identified that the LED lights would generate 106,594 fewer kilograms of C02 compared to the fluorescent bulbs.

To conclude – our ROI survey identified that the golf club could save £80,753.14 across the next 3 years. Simply by making the switch from traditional lighting methods to new LED systems.
